Our Resource Centres are based at our offices in Derby and Chesterfield and provide information about our services, sight loss conditions, plus aids and equipment to help you stay independent at home if you have a visual impairment.
We provide:
Information on various eye conditions, detailing the causes, symptoms and known treatments.
Demonstrations of aids and equipment, with the opportunity, but no obligation, to buy.
Information about our services, and signposting to other organisations which may be able to help you, such as Community Care workers, Welfare Rights, library services, Rehabilitation, Optometrists, and many more.
Please telephone on 01332 292262 before calling in to make sure that there will be somebody available to help you.
We also have a Mobile Resource Centre which tours the county with advice, information and a selection of our most widely-used equipment. Look out for us in your local library, supermarket, GP surgery and other community spaces.
Find out when we will be visiting your area by clicking on the button to see our latest Mobile Resource Centre calendar. This is updated regularly.
“I’m not one for sitting doing nothing. I had to stop baking because I couldn’t see the weight of the ingredients and couldn’t use the cooker because I couldn’t get the right temperature. Sight Support Derbyshire got me some scales that speak the weight. I’ve been able to make a fruit cake and a sandwich cake. It’s lovely being able to bake.”
