New Activity Programme for Children and Young People

Jul 3, 2023

We are very pleased to welcome our new Children and Young People’s Project Worker, Sam Fisher, to Sight Support Derbyshire. Sam says, “I have been an Ofsted registered childminder for the past 13 years and have completed a level 3 SENCO course (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). Over that time I have cared for lots of amazing children from little ones right through to teenagers. I love to see children and young people having fun, trying new activities, exploring the world around them and challenging themselves.”

Sam has already been in touch with some of our families for ideas for our summer programme which is now available below. Our ‘youth group’ activities are for children and young people aged 8-18 years who are experiencing sight loss and their siblings are very welcome to come too whether they are visually impaired or sighted. We also welcome children with additional disabilities as well as their sight loss. We also run family activities during school holidays to which parents and younger siblings can also come along.

If you have not attended one of our activities before you will need to register with us first. Please also make sure that you book in advance to attend the activities. (There is a small charge, which varies depending on the activity, but if this causes challenges for your family please do talk to Sam in confidence about this.) To find out more, register, or book one of the activities please email enquiries@sightsupportderbyshire.org.uk or phone 01332 292262 and ask for Sam.
