New Sight Loss Council coming to Derbyshire

Apr 10, 2024

We are thrilled to share the news that the Thomas Pocklington Trust have today launched a brand new Sight Loss Council for Derbyshire.

This offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is blind or partially sighted and has a passion for making sure their voice, and those of other visually impaired people, are heard by local policy makers and service providers.

Sight Loss Councils (SLC’s) are regional groups, led by blind and partially sighted volunteers, who together use their lived experience to tackle the things that really matter to them every day.

If you want to help improve services for people with sight loss across the county, the Thomas Pocklington Trust would love to hear from you.

Matt Harrison, Engagement Manager for East Midlands, said:

“Following the successful launch of Nottinghamshire SLC in the summer of 2023, I am really pleased to be recruiting volunteers for our forthcoming Derbyshire council.
I am really passionate about promoting equity for blind and partially sighted people. Whether it is regarding accessible transport, the built environment, health, retail, arts and culture, or sport and leisure, if you feel the same, we’d love to hear from you.”
