Sight Support Derbyshire volunteer and trustee Jean Sharp recently accompanied our group visit to Derby Theatre to see an audio-described performance of Jim Cartwright’s play, ‘Two.’ A tactile tour of the set, an authentic interior of a pub complete with pumps, was included in their visit.
Jean said: “I went as a sighted guide for a group of visually impaired people with Sight Support Derbyshire. I didn’t know what to expect but it was amazing! The staff looked after us well and nothing was too much trouble. We sat on the front row and there was assistance for those with poor mobility to access the theatre. Before the performance we had a pleasant lunch provided by Sight Support Derbyshire and an opportunity to chat. Then we were guided around the set, were able to look at and feel the costumes, and spoke with the actors and the audio descriptive translator. I would highly recommend it.”
The next Sight Support Derbyshire theatre trip, Abigail’s Party, will take place on Wednesday 17th October 2018 please contact 01332 292262 for further information.
