From today, Monday 22nd June 2026 at noon until next Monday 29th June at 5pm donations to our Small Charity Week Match Funding Campaign will be DOUBLED!
This joint initiative for Small Charity Week from the Big Give, Global’s Make Some Noise and the NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) means that any donations we receive towards our Befriending Project between 22nd and 29th June 2026 will be DOUBLED by the Big Give’s generous donors, which for Sight Support Derbyshire this year, is the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Our Befriending Project matches volunteers with older people living with sight loss who are feeling isolated. A regular visit or phone call from a friendly volunteer can make all the difference.
“At 2 o’clock on a Thursday afternoon, my doorbell goes and in comes my lifeline!”
Donations to our Big Give campaign will enable us to be a lifeline for more older people living with sight loss, and every penny counts.
A donation of £1 becomes £2
£5 becomes £10
£10 becomes £20
£20 becomes £40
And for donors who are tax payers, we can claim Gift Aid too, meaning a gift of £20 suddenly makes £45’s worth of difference!
The donation page will open at midday today, Monday 22nd June 2026 and close at 5pm on Monday 29th June. Any donations made via this link during that time, up to a total of £1,250, will be doubled – making double the difference to local older people living with a visual impairment. (Any funds raised over £1,250 will not be doubled, but will still support the befriending project).
We really hope that the generous people, businesses and organisations of Derby and Derbyshire will get behind this fantastic opportunity to help make a real difference to blind and partially sighted older people who are feeling lonely and isolated.
“Whoever put us together – they are an angel!”
