Coin Counting Volunteer

Join us by investing your time in doing something that makes a world of difference to people with sight loss.

Sight Support Derbyshire is an independent charity, which needs to raise funds in order to provide services for blind and visually impaired people around the county.  We require a volunteer to help with counting coins from our collection boxes ready for banking.

What you will do: Working alongside another volunteer you will use our counting machine to count how much is in each collection box, keeping an accurate record in accordance with our counting procedures. You will then prepare the money for banking.

Times expected: Time commitment will average around 1-2 sessions per month, with each session being around 2-3 hours. Day and time will be arranged with you to suit both yourself and the other volunteer and will be during office hours, Monday – Thursday. You will be based at our Derby office (address below).

Skills you need to have: Numeracy, dexterity, confident using the counting machine following training, excellent attention to detail, patience, calm approach.

Training and Support: You will receive training specific to the task including how to use the counting machine and our counting procedures. A member of staff will support you throughout and will meet with you on a regular basis to see how things are going.

Expenses: We will reimburse your out of pocket expenses in line with our expenses policy.

Before you start: You will need to provide us with the names of two people who can provide a character reference for you.
