Cyclone 24 returns to Derby Arena on 9th and 10th February 2019. It’s the ultimate cycling challenge, involving teams riding around the Velodrome track for 24 hours!
This year Sight Support Derbyshire will be fielding a tandem team, together with our friends from two other charities supporting people with sight loss.
Have you got what it takes to join Team SSD? We are seeking four stokers, who will ride on the back of the tandem, piloted by trained cyclists.
The challenge is open to both visually impaired and sighted cyclists.
- You will join the challenge for eight hours, riding the velodrome track for 20 mins at a time, cycling for two hours in total.
- You will need to pledge to raise a minimum of £200 (per entrant) in sponsorship for Sight Support Derbyshire
- You will need to be physically fit and be an experienced track cyclist. Experience of tandem cycling is useful but not essential.
- The entry fee is just £10 (usual fee is £900 for a team of six)

“Huge thanks to the organisers for allowing tandems to ride. Not only do we feel included in such a great event, but our involvement encourages other blind and visually impaired people to want to get on a bike.” Laura Turner, Paracyclist and Team SSD member for Cyclone24 2018
