Photography Volunteer

Join us by investing your time in doing something that makes a world of difference to people with sight loss.

Sight Support Derbyshire is an independent charity, which needs to raise funds in order to provide services for blind and visually impaired people around the county.  Raising awareness of what we do is vital, and having up to date photographs helps us promote ourselves through our website, social media, and traditional media.

What you will do: Sight Support Derbyshire is seeking a volunteer photographer who can attend events and other photo opportunities on an ad hoc basis and help us keep our stock of photographs up to date.

You will need to have your own camera and equipment and insurance, and your own editing software. You will also need your own means of travelling to different locations. Although most of our events happen in Derby, sometimes there is a need to travel to different areas of the county.

Working to a brief, you will take photographs for use in the media, on social media, on our website and in leaflets and publications. We will need you to supply high and low resolution versions of the photographs as soon as requested.

This is a casual role which offers interesting and varied assignments.

Times Expected: As and when required, which could be weekdays, evenings or weekends, subject to your availability.

Skills Required:  Excellent photographic skills, particularly photographing people. Media or commercial experience is desirable but not essential. Good communication skills.  Ability to follow a brief. Skills in video recording and editing would also be useful.

Sight Support Derbyshire Induction Details: You will be given the option to attend an induction, which will provide you with an awareness and understanding of the main types of sight loss, the impact of visual impairments and how best you can support someone, including a sight guiding demonstration. We will also go through expectations as a volunteer and how you will be supported by us.

Specific Role Training Details: A member of staff will give you a full briefing of the requirements of each job in advance.

Expenses:  We will reimburse your out of pocket expenses in line with our expenses policy.

Before you start:  You need to provide us with the details of one person who can provide a character reference for you.
