Volunteer Coordinator
£9,360 for 15 hours per week (£12/hour) (£23,400 FTE)
Based in Derby
Sight Support Derbyshire has been in existence for over 100 years. Set up by volunteers back in 1914 we have grown and developed and now provide a wide range of services to blind and partially sighted people across Derbyshire.
We have a dedicated staff team working from our Head Office in Derby, our small sub-office in Chesterfield and at the two main hospitals in Derby and Chesterfield. We would not, however, be able to run our services without the help and support of our trusted volunteers. With over 50 volunteers helping with our hospital work, children’s services, fundraising and almost everything we do, volunteers really are essential to our ongoing work.
We are now looking for a Volunteer Coordinator with passion, drive and enthusiasm to help us retain and recruit to our volunteer base.
Part of the team based in Derby and reporting to the CEO, you will need to be a ‘self-starter’ and able to work on your own initiative to ensure that services run smoothly and deliver the required outcomes.
At a time of big changes in both voluntary and statutory services we need people who can be flexible, adapt to change and bring a positive attitude to their work.
It is essential that you are a real ‘people person’ and can motivate and support our volunteers. Whilst it is desirable that you have experience in volunteer management, it is not essential as you may have transferable skills from other paid or voluntary roles that you have undertaken.
You will need access to a vehicle for work purposes and be able and willing to travel around the county (or eligible for Access to Work). Expenses will be paid in line with our policy.
We can offer you a challenging and rewarding environment, and a competitive salary. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
