Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO)

Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO): £20,339 per annum FTE, pro rata for part time hours (£10.43/hr)
30 hours (4 days) per week
Based at Royal Derby Hospital

Sight Support Derbyshire is looking for an ECLO (Eye Clinic Liaison Officer) to be part of a dedicated team supporting the delivery of high quality services for blind and partially sighted people in Derbyshire.

Losing all, or some sight can cause many emotional and practical problems to both the patient and their families. Based in the Eye Clinic at the Royal Derby Hospital, you will provide information, advice and support to eye clinic patients and their relatives. This will include listening to their needs and helping them to access services to enable them to come to terms with their sight loss and live independently.

You must have proven listening and people skills and a track record of helping people to access services and support to help them come to terms with changes in their lives. You must be able to work on your own initiative much of the time, but also contribute to the wider team.

It is essential that you are a real ‘people person’ and can show compassion and understanding alongside a common sense approach to your work. Whilst it is desirable that you have experience in working with visually impaired people, it is not essential as full training will be provided. (*The post holder will need to be willing to attended the Eye Clinic Liaison Course run by RNIB in Birmingham (and accredited by City University London) – a 2×2 day course with some home study.)

We can offer you a challenging and rewarding environment, and a competitive salary. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
