Our children and young people’s project offers exciting activities for children aged 8 to 18 with a visual impairment. And when school’s out for the holidays, they can enjoy some great days out with their new friends, family and younger siblings too!
All our youngsters have a say in what they want to do, and this has included bowling, climbing, arts and crafts, cookery and goalball. We’ve run day trips to Alton Towers, Gulliver’s Kingdom, The Heights of Abraham and Chatsworth Farm and Adventure Play Area.
While our children and young people are having fun, they’re also developing their self-esteem, confidence and independence in a safe environment. They share experiences and support each other, making new friends which helps reduce the risk of becoming isolated.
We also offer guidance, information and advice to families with visually impaired children of any age.

“I don’t want to go home. I have really enjoyed myself, thank you. Please could we do this activity again?”
“This increase in confidence is particularly evident at school where my son is now happy and comfortable in alerting his teachers to when his is unable to see something, or asking for things to be enlarged when this is overlooked.”
